Who shall inherit the kingdom of God?
First we look at who will not inherit the kingdom of God.
The Authorized King James Bible, (God’s Holy Word), says in
1 Corinthians 6:9-10:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous
shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived:
neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor
effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor
thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor
extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
Let’s examine these people. A fornicator is one who
voluntarily commit sexual intercourse with someone they are
not lawfully married to. An idolater is one who worships an
idol or idols. An adulterer is one who is lawfully married,
that voluntarily commit sexual intercourse would someone
that is not their spouse. Effeminate is one having woman
like traits or qualities to a degree and the fitting a man;
womanish; unmanly. Mankind means man, as distinguished from
women. Abusers of themselves with mankind deals with the sin
of sodomy. Thieves are people who take things belonging to
another. Covetous is to long for something that belongs to
another. A drunkard is one who is affected with alcoholic
drink. A reviler is one who uses abusive or contemptuous
language. Extortioners are those who gain at the expense of
others by threat, oppression, or abuse of authority.
Galatians 5:19-21 tells us: 19 Now the works of the flesh
are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication,
uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft,
hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions,
heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and
such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also
told you in time past, that they which do such things shall
not inherit the kingdom of God.
Ephesians 5:3-6 says:3 But fornication, and all uncleanness,
or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as
becometh saints; 4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking,
nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of
thanks. 5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean
person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any
inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no
man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things
cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Romans 1:28-32 tells us: 28 And even as they did not like to
retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a
reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication,
wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy,
murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30
Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters,
inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without
understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection,
implacable, unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God,
that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not
only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
Revelation 21:8 says: 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving,
and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and
sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their
part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone:
which is the second death.
Now let’s get back to our topic in this article.
Who shall inherit the kingdom of God?
You may be thinking: I know that I have committed some of
the sins. Romans 3:10 says: as it is written, there is none
righteous, no, not one: Romans 3:23: for all have sinned,
and come short of the glory of God.
But there is still hope!!!
Titus 1:2 says: In hope of eternal life which God, that
cannot lie, promised before the world began;
Jesus said in John 3:3: Verily, verily, I say under the,
except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God
and in John 3:7: Marvel not that I said under the, ye must
be born again.
Remember the opening verses to this article which were 1
Corinthians 6:9-10. Let’s read on to verse 11: and such were
some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but
you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the
Spirit of our God.
Notice the word were. This word is in the past tense. This
means that these people have been forgiven of their sins. 2
Corinthians 5:17 says: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he
is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all
things are become new.
How can someone be born again, washed, sanctified,
justified, and made to be a new creature? Ephesians 2:8-9
tells us: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that
not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works,
lest any man should boast. John 3:16 says: For God so loved
the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life. Romans 6:23 says: For the wages of sin is
death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus
Christ our Lord.
That’s right! It is a gift!
How do I receive this gift, so that I can go to heaven?
Matthew 4:17 says: 17 From that time Jesus began to preach,
and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
The word repent means, “to change one’s mind concerning past
actions”. In Luke 13:3 Jesus said: I tell you, nay: but,
except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. In John 6:44
Jesus said: No man can come to me, except the father which
has sent me draw him:
If you feel that God is drawn you to be saved and you know
that you are a sinner, you can repent of sin and call on
Jesus to be your Lord and Saviour.
Romans 10:9 says:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth
the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God
hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. First 13
says: for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord
shall be saved.
How can I know that I have been
saved?
First John 5:12-13 says: 12 He that hath the Son hath life;
and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13 These
things have I written unto you that believe on the name of
the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life,
and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
