On June
20, 2026 Charles Larry Bedgood departed this
life for his everlasting habitation in the
eternal bliss of heaven. This page is
prepared in his honor by his DOUBLE BROTHER
Mike Sutherland. His funeral service was
preached on June 25, 2026 at Flanders Powell
Funeral Home in Pembroke, Georgia by Brother
Mike Sutherland.
I prepared a written sermon as the basis for
what I would preach at Charles's funeral.

Charles's funeral was a little different
even though it was based upon the same
document. Time would not allow me to preach
its full content.
Flanders Powell Funeral Home did not have
any means of recording audio or video. So, I
had to use a TASCAM model DR-05X personal
recorder to record the audio. It got a
realtively good recording of the entire
service including the eulogy delivered by my
neice, Stephanie Brookes, who is Charles's
daughter. She did a wonderful job. For a PDF

In the
final minutes of the recording, the playing
of "Amazing Grace" had some noise associated
with it that I tried to edit out without the
desired effect. For the audio of Stephanie's

HERE. I was unable to successfully
record the comments of Brother Dan McLucas
at graveside because one of us accidentally
stopped the recording while we were
transferring the recorder to his inside suit pocket.
Here, I also want to acknowledge the
sacrifice, love, dedication, and hard work
of my niece Stephanie Brookes, and her
husband, Dean Brookes, in taking caring of
my brother Charles through numerous medical
emergencies and every day care in the
closing years of his life. They are a rarity
in this day and age. My neice Stephanie is a
real sweetheart.
For those of you who do not know it, Charles
was called "Reuben" by some of his friends
at Savannah High School in Savannah,
Georgia. I am not sure of the origin of that
nickname. Charles was also called "wildman"
by many of the 65 boys
that were at Boys Estate, Georgia: a home
for boys paid for by private donations where
he and I stayed for several tears before we
were adopted by Joe and Mary Bedgood of
Savannah, Georgia. Charles was called
"wildman" because he never met a tree at
Boys Estate that he did not like to climb.
He scared me half to death one time when he
feel out of one, but that did not stop him
from climbing trees, and that is pretty
wild-man!

me because when you text the image it loses
much of its resolution.
It was my full intent at the funeral service
for Charles to honor his request that
salvation be preached to his family members.
Even if Charles had not asked me to preach
salvation, I would have been under an
obligation to God to do so. During the
service, I noticed that several folks were
under conviction. If you want to talk about
your salvation most of you have my phone
number, or can get it from someone you know
who does. There are numerous articles on my
